Mixing CT-25

You will need the following materials to make a 2-cubic-foot batch of CT-25:

  • Skid Steer with Mega Mixer attachment
  • Bagged sand per mix design

  • Bagged cement per mix design

  • 1 pre-weighed bag of Cor-Tuf CT-25

  • A pre-weighed amount of steel fiber, per mix design

  • A pre-weighed amount of water, per mix design

  • A pre-weighed amount of admix, per mix design

1. Add Sand to the Mix [:32]

  • Add bagged sand per mix design

2. Add Cement and CT-25 to the Mix [1:09]

  • With the auger running:
    • Add bagged cement per mix design.
    • Add one, pre-weighed bag of CT-25.
    • Let the blend mix for a few seconds before adding the steel fibers.

3. Add Steel Fiber to the Mix [1:54]

  • Add the steel fiber to the mix per mix design, distributing it evenly to avoid balling or clumping later.

4. Mix Dry Constituents [2:10]

  • Use a scraper to move the material from the edges to the center of the mix, to prepare for the addition of wet constituents.

5. Add Water to the Mix [2:28]

  • Add the pre-weighed water to the mix, spreading the water around evenly as much as possible as it is being poured.

6. Add Admixtures to the Mix [2:46]

  • Add the pre-weighed admixtures, distributing the components over the hydrated mix . The admixtures consist of 1) a high-range water reducer, 2) a viscosity modifier, and 3) a corrosion inhibitor. These components should be added in this order.
  • All liquid constituents are weighed according to the specific weight design for that project. Variations between projects is normal, based on mixing conditions.

7. Start Complete Mix [3:20]

  • Note that the dry components will accumulate at the outside edges of the mix, with the liquid part of the mix accumulating at the center. This is completely normal. Use a flat scraper to push the material around the edges of the Mega Mixer attachment into the liquid mix, until all components are blended.
  • There will still be dry ingredients accumulating at the edges of the Mega Mixer.

8. Finish the Mix [4:27]

  • Reverse the direction of the auger to more completely blend the materials.
  • Then stop the auger completely to continue the scraping and blending of the ingredients with the auger paused.
  • Resume the auger, in the original direction.
  • Repeat these steps as needed, scraping the sides, until the mix is fully blended.
  • The entire mixing process, from the start to a finished, fully plastic mixture, should be about two minutes.
